Few #hawaiitips to know about Manoa Falls Hike

Manoa Falls is the most visited waterfall on the island of O’ahu. Most tourists put Manoa Falls on the must do list, while visiting the island.

Here are a few personal tips that I like to share:

1.It is a 40 minute hike through the rainforest, and very often you will encounter rain, wet lands and bugs. A good way to be prepared, pack a rain poncho, lots of water and anti-bug spray are a must.

2.Be prepared to have $5 cash on you for parking. There is a short walk from the parking lot to the start of the trail.

3.The hike is slippery! Sturdy shoes and a walking stick can ease your life. Every time I hike there, I always see people wearing flip-flops…what a mess!

4.It is an easy hike, thus children and elderly are welcomed. The setting is breathtaking, and you will be making many stops and taking lots of pictures before getting to the waterfall. Thus, take your time and don’t rush to get to the finish line.

5.Avoid weekends and week mid days, as the hike can get very busy. I advise get there as early as possible to avoid crowds.

6.You still have time left? One of my favorite stops after Manoa Falls, is Lyon Arboretum a 200 -acre botanical garden managed by University of Hawaii at Manoa. An absolutely favorite of mine, where you will see citrus trees, exotic flowers, nutmeg trees, and meditative small shrines for contemplation. I consider it a little hidden gem away from the tourist’s radar.

Have fun and enjoy every minute of this hike!
