One of the most iconic islands in Hawaii is 'Chinamen's Hat' located on the East side of Oahu. It can be accessed from Koaloa Beach Park via kayak or stand up paddleboard. At low tide you can actually wade through the water, about waist to chest deep all the way to the island. However, that is not very safe because there are only six hours between low and high tide, and tides can vary 4-5 feet between low and high.

There are plenty of places to rent kayaks and we had them delivered and picked up at the beach, no hassle, just fun. Once you reach the small beach at the base of the island you can hike all the way to the top, it only takes 10 minutes or so, depending how big your group is. The views from the top are breath taking and we spent most of the time there, just taking it all in.

Well worth the trip and we definitely did not expect the experience to be this rewarding.
